The RR 50 rectifier diode is a fast, easy, and economical way to extend the life of small battery chargers. Over the years I've thrown away many chargers when they stoped charging and hummed louder. I finally found that the chargers had stopped rectifying from ac to dc. If your charger has an ac voltage reading at the terminals you might find a cheap fix by replacing the diodes at the heat sink?
